“Ponce de León was a 16th century Spanish explorer in search of the fountain of youth, a source of magical water capable of reversing the aging process.  Could Nitric Oxide (NO) be the end of his “FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH” secret, or it’s a beginning of another quest.”

Nitric oxide is a gas made using two amino acids- arginine and citrulline produced by cells in the brain, blood, blood vessels and lungs. Endothelial dysfunction defined as a reduction in NO bio-availability and/or responsiveness, is a hallmark of many cardiovascular diseases, including aging.
Nitric oxide (NO) produced by endothelial NO synthase (eNOS) promotes various beneficial functions in the cardiovascular systems, as it is a potent vasodilator, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant. Release of NO from therapeutic drugs has been used as a treatment for Angina pectoris since 1867, when Sir Thomas reported the use of nitroglycerine. The amino acid- Arginine, which supports wound healing, normal blood pressure and a healthy cardiovascular system, is obtained naturally from a wide variety of foods.  E.g. Soyabean, Peanuts, Spirulina, Dairy, Chickpeas, Lentils. Also, certain foods rich in nitrates, like Spinach, beets, celery, iceberg lettuce, carrots, parsley, cabbage can be taken in diet.
